General Principles

  • After GAMMA à +1 = control asking +2;+3...à EPSILON; After control asking EPSILON is on.
  • Show longer Major rather than show you second 4c suit; if bidding goes: Major-minor-Major, it shows 6-5
  • In GF situation; if bidding is economical, it shows strong hand and interest in slam
  • After 1§ and positive response, jump to new suit is splinter; showing fit in last suit
  • 1§-1©1NT-3©ª. Shows fit and weak hand, gives partner initiative

Lebensohl after 1¨ opening

After opponent has interfered 1¨-[2¨©ª] un lebensohl sequence 2NT-3§, responder’s bid of opponent’s suit or 3NT promise 4+¨. Respectively opponent’s suit shows missing stopper and primarily asks partner to bid 3NT with a stopper, but 3NT from responder after lebensohl 2NT shows 4+¨, stopper in opponent’s suit and some potential to play also 5¨ or 6¨.

-5NT: 2A, w Q, void (if no information than shows in line §¨©ª)

Nearest free bid after response asks for Q of trumps AND kings.

Eample if ask about Q with 5¨:

            -5ª: w Q, no K

            -5NT: w Q, 1K

            -6§: w Q, 2K

+1          2A no Q

+2          2A with Q

But response +2 can’t be after our safe spot in 6.

1♥ - 5♣♦♠ = Exclusion Blackwood

On all other situations when suit is fitted and is made jump to 5th lvl.

Balancing DBL

Responders rebid after he has shown his suit n first lvl and opponents have been biding only one suit and partners has been passing, than dbl is balancing showing strength and more-less balanced distribution, w/o fit in partners suit. Examples:

1¨-[1©]-dbl-[2©]-pass-dbl

1¨-1ª-[2§©]-pass-dbl

1©-[1ª]-dbl-[2ª]-pass-dbl

Same principle applies if responder have bided in 2nd lvl and opponents bid to 3rd lvl, and his partner has passed, than dbl is for takeout. Examples:

1ª-2§-[3©]-P-X is strength dbl, can be w/o stopper

1ª-2§-[2©]-P-[3©]-X same

1¨-2¨-[3ª]-P-X enough for game, doesn’t know what to play 3NT or 5¨

4. suit forcing

If we are bidding (w/o opponents) 4th suit which haven’t been bided yet, and 3 before were natural, than it is unnatural bid, basic meaning is asking about stopper. Responder bidding 3NT shows, stopper, if after that opener has bid that suit again it is natural showing misfit.

Over-call

(8)9-15 (2lvl – (10)11-15, 3.lvl – (12)13-17), 5+ nat

Further bidding is natural based.

Defence against 1minor(not nat.)

Tekstboks: If partner has passed, points are shmoints, and 1©ªcan be bided w 5c major (if, because of vulnerability or bad suit quality doesn’t want to bid on 2nd lvl). Sometimes with 12-13 points is better to bid defensive bids, because game balance is off. 1ª = 8-14, 4©4+¨ or 4ª4+§  à same as 1©
