Blackwood of Indianapolis IN, one
of the most famous bridge
personalities in the world. Most
notable for his invention of
Blackwood 4NT convention. When he
submitted his convention idea to
The Bridge World the article was
turned down - saying it would
never catch on. A former
insurance manager. From 1964
presided over Blackwood
Enterprises which included a
bridge club and bridge activities
on 32 luxury ship cruises. Served
as ACBL executive secretary
1968-71 and put the ACBL back on
a sound financial basis.
President of Midwest Conference
and Central Indiana Unit. History
buff and enjoyed chess and music,
singer and string player.
